My name is Sam, and I am the founder of Foenix Cruisers — a Sydney-based all-women’s skate collective.

I started skating as a kid as the only girl at the park in a small country town and it quickly became an obsession, but as life pulled me in other directions, I stepped away and it was nearly 20 years before I got back on a board.

In 2022, I experienced the heaviness of darkness – the pain of depression and anxiety plus navigating a fresh diagnosis of ADHD and ASD to top it off.

I couldn't pick myself up despite the amount of deep therapy and healing work I was doing.. I was lucky enough a very close friend of mine pushed me to start skating again, but this time it wasn’t just movement or for fun, it was medicine. It resurrected me from the darkness and enabled me to find my light again.. and through that turbulence, Foenix Cruisers was born.

This isn’t just a skate crew — it’s a family. A safe, empowering space where women come together to connect, heal and rise without judgment, so no one should feel like they have to navigate the shadows alone.

My journey has proved skateboarding heals hearts and my mission is to project these emotional and physical healing benefits to help illuminate the paths of anyone else navigating darkness.

skateboarding enabled me to find my purpose, and being with this community of special souls, on and off the board, continues to bring me more light and love. Watching our community create meaningful connections, uplift one another, and thrive proves skateboarding really is more than a movement — it’s a force for growth, freedom, and true belonging.

foenix isn’t about skill — it’s about energy. Come skate, grow, and connect with a collective of women who love a roll, a laugh and just overall bring good vibes.

I can’t wait to roll with you soon.

light and love,

Sam xx
